Del Mar to be visited by California Model Continuation High School Committee

On Tuesday November 7th, Del Mar will be visited by a committee from the Model Continuation High School committee. After applying for Model School status, Del Mar has been chosen to receive a visit. If the committee decides that the programs here are worthy of special recognition, Del Mar will be awarded Model School status. The term of designation is for 3 years and this would be our third consecutive term being a California Model Continuation High School.
We are excited for our visit and excited to be identified as a school worthy of the designation.

Del Mar HS awarded grant from San Gabriel Education Foundation!

Del Mar has received a generous grant award of $1500.00 that will fully fund our Enrichment Field Trip Program for the 2017-18 school year. With the grant monies, which will be used to pay for transportation and admission cost, we will be taking trips to the The Gene Autry Museum and the Museum of Tolerance. These trips enable our students to see and explore cultural and environmental opportunities that they may otherwise never have. We thank SEF for their support of Del Mar and all of the schools in the SGUSD!

Del Mar Graduates 30 Students

On Thursday June 1st, Del Mar graduated 30 students which included 27 Seniors and 3 Juniors from the class of 2017 at the Gary Goodson Theatre on the Gabrielino HS campus. The night was an amazing success with nine of the seniors giving speeches about their experiences at Del Mar and their thank you's to their families and the school teaching staff.
Key Note Speakers were SGUSD Superintendent Dr. John Pappalardo and Governing Board President, Mr. Andrew Ammon.

SGUSD Governing Board Honors Del Mar History Team

On Tuesday May 28th, the SGUSD Governing Board honored the Del Mar History Day team that qualified six of it seven students for the State Competition in Sacramento. Board President Mr. Andrew Ammon and Superintendent Dr. John Pappalardo presented each of the members with a commemorative certificate and wished our team well on their May 5-7 competition. We thank the Board for acknowledging the hard work and success of our students. On Saturday March 25th, 7 Del Mar students participated in the History Day LA Competition at Azusa Pacific University. Our Students competed in various categories against other high schools from Los Angeles County. We were the only continuation high school competing with other traditional and much larger schools. Congratulations to Mrs. Kloster and her team. We are very proud of all of our team members who put in an incredible amount of time and effort into their projects. GO DOLPHINS!!

Meet DMHS graduate Clarissa Marquez!

We would like to introduce you to 2011 DMHS graduate, Ms. Clarissa Marquez. Clarissa is currently a political science major who has been accepted to UCLA and is applying to schools such as Brown University, The University of Chicago and the Claremont Colleges. Clarissa has done work for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and will go on to become a Lawyer. Clarissa is a great example for our students, especially our female students, that you can accomplish great things if you have a dream and are willing to work for it. We hope that she will come back to Del Mar and speak to inspire all of our students to greater things.

School Field Trip to Moorpark College

On Thursday January 26th, the school took a field trip to Moorpark College to visit their Animal Training Program. The program is one of a kind in the world!! Students can become trainers for the entertainment industry at Zoos and facilities such as Sea World. Our thanks to Moorpark College for giving us a back stage tour and especially to the schools Director Mara Rodriguez, for spending the day and inspiring our students.
