School Field Trip to Moorpark College

On Thursday January 26th, the school took a field trip to Moorpark College to visit their Animal Training Program. The program is one of a kind in the world!! Students can become trainers for the entertainment industry at Zoos and facilities such as Sea World. Our thanks to Moorpark College for giving us a back stage tour and especially to the schools Director Mara Rodriguez, for spending the day and inspiring our students. You can find pictures of our trip under the "photo albums" tab and then the "Moorpark Field Trip" tab.

School Site Council

We are inviting all Del Mar parents and families to get involved in our school through the School Site Council (SSC). SSC is a group of family members, staff and community members who meet once a month to determine how the school will function and spend available monies. Parental involvement is a critical component of the SSC make-up. In your summer mailing packet you received nomination forms to nominate yourself or someone else for School Site Council membership. We meet on the fourthWednesday of each month at Del Mar at 2:30. We are usually done by 3:30. If you would be interested in becoming a SSC member, please call Mr. Sellers at school.
Hope to see you there!

Del Mar HS awarded grant from San Gabriel Education Foundation!

Del Mar has received a generous grant award of $1500.00 that will fully fund our Enrichment Field Trip Program for the 2016-17 school year. With the grant monies, which will be used to pay for transportation and admission cost, we will be taking trips to the Moorpark College Animal Training school and the Museum of Tolerance. These trips enable our students to see and explore cultural and environmental opportunities that they may otherwise never have. We thank SEF for their support of Del Mar and all of the schools in the SGUSD!

Del Mar Now Directly Linked to International Space Station.

Thanks to a generous donation by Mr. Rick Livingston (pictured right) and Mr. Liam Kennedy (pictured left) and his invention "ISS Above", Del Mar now has a 24 hour feed from the International Space Station. Mr. Kennedy's software provides a continuous feed from the Space Station so that students can view a live feed at any time and see whatever part of the world it is passing over.
Thank you to Mr. Livingston and Mr. Kennedy for their support of our students and school.
