Principal's Message

Welcome to Del Mar High School, "Where Second Chances Happen". We are excited to provide an alternative educational opportunity for the students of the San Gabriel Unified School District.

Del Mar is fully accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) .  We are recognized by the State as a California Model Continuation High School. Our school services 80 to 100 students per year who are in need of an alternative academic placement. Students at Del Mar have six or seven periods daily. Classes are fifty minutes in length and 80% of our classes are delivered in a Direct Instruction setting. All core curricular classes are aligned to California Common Core standards. Our students must meet all State of California and San Gabriel Unified School District graduation requirements. We are on a trimester grading and credit earning system so a student may earn up to ninety credits per year if they are here for an entire year. We have a supportive teaching staff and believe that every student is unique and benefits from differentiated instruction.

At Del Mar High School we have many activities and opportunities for our students. They are able to join our Peer Helping and youth outreach program that teaches our students how to be effective peer mediators and who also work with students at Jefferson MS. The ASB and Yearbook programs give students an opportunity to create school activities; from Movie/Game Nights to our Thanksgiving Feast and barbecues. Students with a competitive nature can be involved with our athletic teams that compete against other continuation schools in the San Gabriel Valley Continuation League (SGVCL). Students can compete on an academic level as well on our History Day team. We are the only Continuation School that has sent students to the California State Finals in this program and yearly our students do very well against traditional high schools.

Del Mar is a family school where students, parents and the community are highly valued and our students, while overcoming many barriers, succeed daily. We are small but mighty and we invite you to come and see our school any time you like.
