New State-Mandated Cell Phone Policy
Starting this school year, Del Mar High School will fully implement California’s upcoming state law (AB 3216) restricting personal electronic device use during school hours. This means students may not use or access cell phones, earbuds, headphones, smartwatches, tablets, or any other non-school-issued devices from the start to the end of the school day.
To support this change, each student will be assigned a lockable locker to safely store their devices until dismissal.
We understand this is a big adjustment for our teens, but research shows that reducing device use during school improves focus, social interaction, and learning. We ask for our families’ support in reinforcing this policy at home.
Key Points:
-
No personal devices (phones, earbuds, headphones, smartwatches, tablets) allowed during school hours.
-
Lockers provided for safe storage.
-
Applies to all students, per California state law.
Thank you for helping us create a safe, focused, and engaging learning environment.
