Our 2019/20 History Day Team has done another outstanding job this year of developing an amazing presentation. Due to school closures in response to the Coronavirus, the LA County physical competition at San Gabriel High School on 3/14 has been cancelled. The Los Angeles County Office of Education are going to have schools submit their projects online and will notify of us the results at the end of March. We are so proud of our team, Mrs. Kloster, Cecilia Venegas, Salvador Batres, Angel Calderon and Joshua Polanco. They are awesome.

Student of The Week

Congratulations to our Student of The Week for March 9-13, Elijah Romero. Elijah was recognized by his teachers for his consistent positive work ethic and behaviors. He came to Del Mar not knowing anyone and has done a great job of integrating himself into our school family. Elijah plays on our athletic teams, went to Catalina and participates in all of our trips. At 6'6"inches he is our tallest Dolphin. One of the highlights of the year was to see Elijah squeeze into a kayak with another student and learn to paddle and maneuver the kayak out into the open ocean waters. Something he had never done before. He also climbed the steepest peak with his classmates and made it to the top of the hill, something he did not think he could do. Elijah is one of our Del Mar success stories!!
Congrats Elijah, we are proud of you!!

Del Mar Students Attend Fieldtrips to Los Angeles Trade Tech and The Peterson Automotive Museum

In the month of December, Del Mar students have attended two all school fieldtrips. The first was to Los Angeles Trade Tech College. Students toured the campus, received and extensive tour of the available work and career related programs, visited classrooms and were able to talk to students who currently attend about their career pathways. On the 9th, students went to the Peterson Automotive Museum. This trip was to expose students to the history and career possibilities in the automotive industry. The Peterson Docent discussed the history of the automobile, the evolution of the car and the advancing technology within the industry.

STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Congratulations to our Student of the Week for December 2-6, Cecilia Venegas.
Cecilia was recognized by her teachers for so many reasons we can’t begin to list them all here. Cecilia could be our Student of the Week every week. She came to us at Del Mar as a student who was shy and quiet and looking to find herself. Since coming she has bloomed into the most awesome student and person you could imagine. She is still shy and reserved but if we only knew then what she would become now. She is involved in many things at our school. She is our Student Representative to the Governing Board, she is on our History Day Team, she is a Peer Helper and she has been in ASB. Cecilia is the first one to offer help to students who are struggling in any class she can. She helps teachers, administrators, parents and anyone or anything that needs help.
Cecilia is one of our top Dolphins ever, and we love her so much!
Congratulations Cecilia, we are VERY proud of you.
