Del Mar History Day Team visits the Nixon Library

On November 7th, under the leadership of Mrs. Kloster our History Day Team visited the Richard M. Nixon Presidential Library to do continued research for their projects that will be presented in March at the History Day LA competition. These students work extremely hard on their chosen projects as they prepare for the competition. They put hours of work into development of their projects that includes research, interviewing historical figures involved in the point of history, developing bibliographies and writing their scripts. Each year Del Mar students compete well and move on to the California History Day competition in Sacramento. We are very proud of Mrs. Kloster and our History Day Team.

Student of The Week!!

Congratulations to our Student of The Week for November 5 - 9,
Christopher Peredia.
Chris was chosen by his teachers for his diligence in his work, this year especially. Last year Chris waited for everything and was not as successful as he could have been. This year he has realized that he is in charge of his educational success and he has done an outstanding job in the classroom. Chris is another one of our students who gets involved in school by playing on our athletic teams including our flag football and basketball teams.

Del Mar Takes a SEF Sponsored Fieldtrip to Cabrillo Marine Museum

On Tuesday October 2nd we took an all school field trip to the Cabrillo Marine Museum in San Pedro. The trip was made possible by a generous grant from the San Gabriel Education Foundation who paid for the bus and all fees. Students toured the aquarium, visited their science classroom, hands on tidal pool and participated in a beach activity. The event is followed up with a reflective writing assignment in each of the classes here at Del Mar. This is a part of our cultural and environmental awareness program that exposes our students to new experiences and habitats that will broaden their academic horizon. We thank SEF for their funding to make this program possible each year.
There are many pictures of the trip in the "Photo Albums" tab. Find Cabrillo Beach Trip folder to see the pictures.

School Site Council

We are inviting all Del Mar parents and families to get involved in our school through the School Site Council (SSC). SSC is a group of family members, staff and community members who meet once a month to determine how the school will function and spend available monies. Parental involvement is a critical component of the SSC make-up. In your summer mailing packet you received nomination forms to nominate yourself or someone else for School Site Council membership. We meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month at Del Mar at 2:30. We are usually done by 3:30. If you would be interested in becoming a SSC member, please call Mr. Sellers at school.
Hope to see you there!
