Congratulations Student of the Week, Jasmine Rosales

Congratulations to our Student of the Week for May 13-17; Jasmine Rosales. Jasmine was selected by her teachers for her newly found work ethic and commitment to completing school work. She is determined to succeed at Del Mar so she can return to Gabrielino next year for her senior year. One of our main goals at Del Mar is help students repair their work habits and self confidence so that they can transition back to Gabrielino at some point. While we love it when our Dolphin family stays with us through graduation, we are just as excited for our students who return to Gabrielino and are successful. We are so proud to see the growth she has shown in the last few weeks.
Congrats Jasmine, we are very proud of you!

Author Julie Berry visits Del Mar

On Thursday March 21st Author Julie Berry came and spoke to our students about her book “Lovely War”. It is a novel based on WW I. Mrs. Berry gave our students the history of thr era through its music, art, and energy of the war. Mrs. Berry presented historical slides and related the lives of her characters through the pressing issues of the time period. Our students related well to the themes in Mrs. Berry’s book, especially the actions of the all African American “Harlem Hellfighters” unit. This topic closely relates to our History Day theme of Redlining. We thank Mrs. Berry for coming to Del Mar. It was an experience our students will think about for a long time to come. We also thank the San Gabriel Education Foundation and Mrs. Adela Angiuli for making this visit possible, and for supporting Del Mar!!
